Happy International Women's Day - from Faye, the Founder of Mama Movement

Yes the rumours are true.
When I was about 10 years old, I started a blog called Galz Rule. This was the very early days of the internet, and there was little Faye, making her little blog, and successfully recruiting hundreds of little girls, all around the world, into her little Galz Rule community. Our tag line, was "Galz Rule, Boys Drool" (HAHA!) and the heart of it, was about empowering each other, to embrace our awesomeness, as girls.

LOL. Yeah the name is hilarious, but from a very young age, I wanted to help girls connect with one another, and to see how strong and incredible, we really are.  💪

I suppose, that's always been in my DNA, to be a supporter and champion of women and girls. 💕

So it feels a little bit serendipitous to imagine that twenty years later, all-grown-up Faye would be starting a brand called Mama Movement, a brand rooted in celebrating women, and helping more women and mums celebrate our amazing bodies, in lots and lots of colour.

Because yes, celebrating women isn't just for one day a year here at Mama Movement, but something we do *EVERY* day in alignment with one of our key values, women supporting women.

So today, on International Women's Day, I'd love to share with you what we do in uplifting women every day.

A Splash of Colour in Every Wardrobe

Imagine a world where every woman steps out the door feeling bold, brilliant, and beautiful in her own skin. That's the world we're creating at Mama Movement. it is our mission to challenge the monochrome norms of fashion with activewear that's as vibrant and varied as the women who wear it. Colour isn't just a fun frivolous choice (even though it totally is fun!); it is our proud statement that that EVERY woman is worthy of celebrating herself in colour.

Our Heartbeat: Inclusivity in Fashion

We proudly feature real women with different shapes, sizes, and skin colours on our website and socials. We believe that every woman should see herself reflected in the fashion she loves, shattering the industry's one-size-fits-all glass ceiling. Every piece of clothing on our website has been photographed on a MINIMUM of two different bodies, usually one straight sized, and one plus sized, in the hopes that for every woman shopping our website, she sees herself reflected back in the beautiful happy women shown in our activewear.

Supporting Working Mums

As a team of mums, we understand the juggle of work and family life firsthand. That's why we've chosen to hire inclusively, offering flexible working arrangements that allow more working mums (some re-entering the workforce for the first time since having children) to find a balance that suits them and their families. It's our way of ensuring that the workplace isn't just accessible but genuinely supportive of the unique challenges and strengths working mums bring to the table.

Championing Female Australian Artists

Our colourful prints that are a unique statement of Mama Movement have all been created in collaboration with talented female Australian artists. We are committed to championing both emerging and established female talent. It's not just about looking good (though that's a given!); it's about wearing a piece of art that tells a story, supports female artists, and celebrates the collective strength of women uplifting women.

Happy International Women's Day!

As we mark International Women's Day, we're reminded of how far we've come—and how much further we still have to go. Mama Movement remains dedicated to our mission: to make every woman feel seen, supported, and celebrated, not just in fashion but in every facet of life. We dream of a future where every day is a celebration of women in all their diverse glory.

Thank you to all of the thousands of women, who have supported me, and my dream to start a movement of body positivity. Little 10-year old Faye would be proud of us all.

xx
